Upstage held a webinar on December 20, 'Who and How Makes Good Data-Upstage Talk'
3 speakers announced at NeurIPS 2022, the best AI society, for the first time in Korea
From December 1st to 19th, online participation application will be held through the Upstage website
(Seoul, Dec. 1, 2022 /Upstage) Upstage, Korea’s leading AI startup, is holding a webinar where a team of Upstage’s own experts will gather online to discuss about quality data construction, drawing from the research acknowledged by one of the most prestigious AI conferences in the world.
On Dec. 20 KST, Upstage (CEO Seong-Hoon Kim, www.upstage.ai ) has organized a new session of Upstage Talks, an online event inviting the authors of research published at the NeurIPS 2022 workshop to share insights on how to create good data as the basis of AI.
Having started in 2020 as an internal event, Upstage Talks has now become a regular forum of public discussion and garnered increasing attention of late with eye-catching topics, such as introducing how Upstage dominated Kaggle competitions, sharing first-person insights from Silicon Valley’s top developers, etc.
At the latest event to be held in December, a team of Upstage’s star employees, Inha Cha, Joohyun Oh, and Chulyoung Park, will assemble under the banner of “Who creates good data, and how?” and introduce their research paper “Human-centered Proposition for Structuring Data Construction,” published at the Human-Centered AI (HCAI) Workshop of NeurIPS 2022.
Everyone recognizes the importance of data on the basis of AI applications. However, qualifying data is a challenging process due to difficulty in gathering quality data, high cost in data labeling, tardy process of constructing dataset, etc.
According to a survey by the Full Stack Deep Learning alumni network, about 61.1 percent of the machine learning (ML) practitioners said that model maintenance and retraining was the most challenging task in the ML lifecycle, followed by model monitoring (60.0 percent) and data labelling (38.2 percent).
In particular, Upstage marked another important milestone of the achievements as the company’s own employees have earned a recognition by the world’ most prestigious and influential AI conference, introducing data work for the first time in Korea. Upstage Talks will share ways to create quality data that can enhance AI capabilities in processing challenging data works.
While many assume that data is neutral and unprejudiced, AI dataset reflects human biases. Upstage organized this particular session to discuss ways to solve apparent human interventions by sharing case studies. The event is open to anyone craving for the latest trends data studies, including data scientists who work to create good data.
The event will be held online at 8:00 pm on Dec. 20 KST. Pre-registration will be available from Dec. 1 to Dec. 19 KST, through the event page posted on Upstage’s official website.
SUNGHOON KIM, CEO OF UPSTAGE, SAID, “THIS EVENT IS A VALUABLE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR THE DIRECTION OF THE LATEST DATA RESEARCH DIRECTLY FROM THE AUTHORS OF EXCELLENT PAPERS THAT HAVE PASSED AT NEW LIPPS 2022, WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE UNITED STATES ON DATA, WHICH IS THE CENTER OF THE SOFTWARE 2.0 ERA.” UPSTAGE WILL CONTINUE TO STRIVE TO BECOME THE BEST COMPANION FOR CORPORATE CUSTOMERS' DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION THROUGH VARIOUS RESEARCH ON DATA AS WELL AS AI."
Meanwhile, Upstage can easily apply the latest AI technology to various industries based on AI technology leadership proven by papers published in international AI societies such as NeurlPS, ICLR, CVPR, ECCV, and WWW, and winning double-digit gold medals in Kaggle. We are developing 'Upstage AI Pack', a no-code-low-code solution that can
With the AI Pack, Upstage assists customers in customizing three AI technologies simultaneously: OCR technology, recommendation technology that takes into account customer information and product/service characteristics, and natural language processing (NLP) that enables meaning-based search. The Upstage AI Pack not only simplifies data processing, AI modeling, and indicator management, but also supports continuous updates and makes it easy to stay up-to-date with the latest AI technology.
