  • Upstage's 'Eye-eyed ChatGPT' AskUp goes beyond the limits of providing AI with inaccurate information by adding a search function

  • '?' + SUMMARY OF SEARCH RESULTS AND LINK CHATGPT WHEN ENTERING KEYWORDS… UNLIKE CHATGPT, IT RESPONDS WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION

  • CONTINUE TO INNOVATE THE MOBILE USER EXPERIENCE BY ADDING A SEARCH FUNCTION FOLLOWING THE APPLICATION OF API IMMEDIATELY AFTER GPT-4 WAS RELEASED

(Upstage = 2023/3/23) AskUp, 'Chat GPT with eyes' developed by Upstage, a leading AI startup in Korea, has reached 300,000 channel friends, bringing about innovation in finding real-time information.

Upstage celebrated the breakthrough of 300,000 KakaoTalk AskUp channel friends on the 23rd with '? It added a 'search' (question mark search) function and provided convenient AI search in conjunction with ChatGPT. Unlike ChatGPT, which learned only information until 2021 by grafting a search engine, AskUp finds and answers the latest information.

In addition, by attaching a link to the source of the information answered by AskUp, it supplemented hallucination (hallucination), which provides inaccurate information by making words, which is the limit of ChatGPT, and innovated so that users can easily check the consistency of information.

AskUp is a KakaoTalk artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Upstage by combining its own OCR technology based on OpenAI's ChatGPT. When a user takes a picture of a document or sends it, 'Nundalin ChatGPT', which can read, understand, and respond to the contents, has surpassed 350,000 Kakao Talk friends in just 18 days of launch, and is adding to the heat. Users can utilize 100 messages of GPT-3.5 version and 10 messages of GPT-4 version for free by simply adding them through AskUp channel search on Kakao Talk.

With this update, AskUp users can display '?' If you enter the word you want to search for after the phrase, you can summarize the search results, give you an answer, and directly check the source. For example '? Use 'Search', '? Upstage', '? Asokup', '? If you enter a keyword you want to ask, such as 'flowering time this year', you can get more accurate information by providing a summary of search results and a link to the source, unlike in the past, which did not give accurate answers to recent information after 2021 due to the nature of generative AI.

AskUp surpassed 350,000 channel friends on the 23rd, 18 days after its launch, and is receiving a lot of attention from the public. Applying GPT-4 and a search function, AskUp utilizes knowledge in 27 languages and various fields, including Korean, to provide answers not only in English but also in other languages such as Korean and Chinese. It is expected to increase its usability as it can provide information and process documents in various fields such as law, medical care, and education.

Seonghoon Kim, CEO of Upstage, said, “Following the application of GPT-4, we quickly carried out an update to add a search function to AskUp so that everyone can find and use the latest information more conveniently. It will bring innovation to the mobile user experience by being able to search directly during a conversation,” he said. “Upstage wants to increase the public’s AI accessibility and reliability through AskUp.”

To commemorate the application of GPT-4 on the 17th, Upstage expanded the 'Question & Answer' event, which provided 100 free messages every day, and is giving 10 additional GPT-4 usage credits every day. If you put '!' in front of the message and have a conversation, AskUp will respond using GPT-4. Considering that GPT-4 is 15 times more expensive than the existing chat GPT, user convenience has been greatly increased.

Meanwhile, Upstage unveiled AskUp Biz, the business version of AskUp, to the global market on the 20th, and introduced a service that can be optimized for the business environment to increase business efficiency and satisfaction. AskUp Biz is divided into three parts: AskUp Doc where you can read various documents and get information through Chat AI, AskUp Web where you can provide homepage information to homepage visitors through Chat AI, and AskUp Slack which can be used in Slack, a business tool. It is composed of hundreds of demo applications in one day on the day of release, and is receiving a lot of attention.
