LEADING GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SECTOR AI INNOVATION WITH INDUSTRY-LEADING UPSTAGE GENERATIVE AI TECHNOLOGY
(Upstage = 2023/12/6) Upstage joins hands with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety) to join forces to activate the application of generative AI in the public sector.
UPSTAGE (CEO KIM SEONG-HOON) SIGNED A BUSINESS AGREEMENT WITH THE MINISTRY OF FOOD AND DRUG SAFETY ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE 5TH TO DISSEMINATE FOOD AND DRUG SAFETY INFORMATION USING GENERATIVE AI. THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS HELD AN AGREEMENT CEREMONY AT THE MINISTRY OF FOOD AND DRUG SAFETY IN OSONG, NORTH CHUNGCHEONG PROVINCE, WITH KEY OFFICIALS INCLUDING UPSTAGE CTO LEE TAL-SEOK AND MINISTER OF FOOD AND DRUG SAFETY OH YU-KYUNG IN ATTENDANCE.
RECENTLY, INTEREST IN ADMINISTRATIVE WORK EFFICIENCY AND DIGITAL INNOVATION THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF GENERATIVE AI TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN INCREASING IN THE GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SECTORS. ACCORDINGLY, UPSTAGE DECIDED TO UTILIZE THE INDUSTRY'S BEST LLM TECHNOLOGY AND COOPERATE WITH THE MINISTRY OF FOOD AND DRUG SAFETY TO SPREAD RELIABLE PUBLIC SAFETY AND HEALTH INFORMATION.
In particular, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to provide high-quality food and drug data by participating in the upstage '1T (Trillion) Club'. Upstage 1T Club is a project that focuses on strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic AI industry against the intensifying offensive of global big tech by developing a high-performance Korean LLM by securing Korean language data tokens worth 1 trillion won.
SPECIFICALLY, THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS ARE ▲ESTABLISHING A COOPERATION SYSTEM TO SHARE AND UTILIZE FOOD AND DRUG INFORMATION AND THE LATEST PRIVATE TECHNOLOGY ▲DEVELOPING A KOREAN-STYLE LLM MODEL AND ACTIVATING THE CONSTRUCTION OF 1T PROJECTS ▲SECURITY MEASURES SUCH AS PREVENTING LEAKS OF SENSITIVE INFORMATION ▲ESTABLISHING AND REVITALIZING MINISTRY OF FOOD AND DRUG SAFETY GENERATED AI WE DECIDED TO LAY THE FOUNDATION FOR COOPERATION IN VARIOUS FIELDS, INCLUDING TECHNICAL CONSULTATION.
Upstage plans to take the lead in expanding the domestic AI ecosystem, starting with cooperation with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. To this end, we are expanding the 1T Club partnership and further upgrading the Korean LLM evaluation leaderboard 'Open Ko-LLM Leaderboard' established with the National Information Society Agency (NIA). The Open Ko-LLM Leaderboard has surpassed 500 evaluation models in just two months since its launch, becoming a barometer for Korean LLM performance evaluation.

Oh Yoo-kyung, Minister of Food and Drug Safety, said on this day, “Recently, there have been many social changes with the advent of Chat-GPT, and interest in work innovation using generative artificial intelligence is also increasing in the public sector.” He added, “The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety “We will review ways to utilize generative artificial intelligence to improve information services and do our best to accurately deliver various documents and information necessary for the public’s health and safety,” he said.
