The profile image of AskUp in the early days before the brand renewal was created by “generative AI” that draws pictures. It is an image of a friendly AI chatbot that responds to various questions.
AskUp is an artificial intelligence chatbot service developed by Upstage. It was named by combining 'Ask', which means 'to ask, ask questions' in English, and the company name of 'Upstage', an AI company. In Korean, there is a friendly nickname called 'Asukup', which is easy to pronounce. In fact, the first start of AskUp started when Upstage helped solve simple tasks or questions by linking ChatGPT to Slack, an internal work tool. The current AskUp was created by expanding the service to KakaoTalk in the hope that more people would know and use the convenience and technology of AI.
The main feature of AskUp is the so-called 'Eye-eyed ChatGPT', which combines Upstage's OCR technology and ChatGPT so that users can understand and respond to the text in the image by taking or sending a picture of the document.
AskUp's strengths include:
OCR technology : AskUp accurately recognizes text regardless of different fonts, backgrounds, etc. Through this, users can send text documents or handwritten images to AskUp and receive answers along with translated content. 1. LIMITATIONS OF AI FOR EVENTS OCCURRING AFTER 2021
AskUp is a service of Upstage Co., Ltd. and was developed using the latest language model of OpenAI. Currently, AskUp relies on a ChatGPT model trained on data through September 2021 , so it may provide misleading information about events that occurred after 2021.
However, Upstage has completed a quick application so that you can meet the new GPT4 on AskUp. Chat with ! to receive an answer using GPT4. (Ex. ! Upstage creates a novel that goes to Mars in alphabetical order.) Upstage will continue to update other features for the convenience of users.

The GPT model is a model that can generate new sentences based on learning patterns of words and sentences. it is made ChatGPT can have various types of conversations such as questions, answers, and daily conversations, and can be used by companies or individuals in the fields of chatbots and virtual assistants.
2. Limitation of image recognition of more than 1,000 characters
AskUp combines ChatGPT with Upstage's OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology and is introduced as the so-called 'Awakened ChatGPT', so it is characterized by being able to recognize text in images. If you use this OCR function, you can use it for the purpose you need, such as extracting or summarizing the information you want from an image.
However, responses are limited for images exceeding 1,000 characters due to the limit of ChatGPT model input values. Therefore, if the text in the image is long, it is recommended to divide it into sections.
3. 100 credits per day
We provide 100 credits to our users. During the “100 Q&A” event period, for the convenience of users, we are resetting credits to share 100 Q&A with AskUp every day. The event has been extended until the end of March and is being provided to all users who have made friends with AskUp and KakaoTalk, so have a variety of conversations with AskUp!
4. Accuracy of answers and user's obligation to verify
The answers AI provides may not always be accurate. Since it was learned with data up to 2021, and it is an AI that “creates” rather than imports information as it is, AI’s answer may not be true. Also, please note that specific questions about personal information are likely to be inaccurate, and users are responsible for reviewing them for factual accuracy.
5. The need to recognize the volatility of the AskUp service and the inappropriateness of the answer
AskUp is an initial service and is continuously being updated. In addition, inappropriate answers that pass through Open AI's filter may be provided to users, so users should understand this risk before using the service.
