Upstage held the event in compliance with the Corona 19 quarantine rules, and wore a mask at all times except for photo taking.

“There is a company in which all employees gather offline for the first time in two years since founding?!”

Right here, upstage! 🤩

Since its establishment in October 2020, Upstage has been running a 100% remote working 'full remote' system. In the second half of this year, we gathered with stars for the first time ahead of the launch of “AI Pack ,” a total AI solution that helps corporate customers adopt AI technology without an AI expert.

On July 21st, Upstage's first athletic meet was held based on the theme of “All-Star: U Play” with the intention of having a fun and meaningful time offline with the stars you met online.

The story of the 2022 All-Star Game, where all the stars played together as one team and made memories, was shared in detail through an interview with the People&Culture team (Helen, Jieun, EomThan)!

“Anywhere On Earth, But Together!”

What motivated you to plan “All-Star Game: U Play”?

  • Helen:

In order to create an upstage culture where everyone is together, there is a window called “Check-up Stage” to listen to the opinions of stars about our company. Through this, I was able to confirm the needs of stars for offline meetings where everyone gathers in one place. So, I thought that I should do something with all the stars for one day. A lot of people gathered their opinions, but the most common was the idea of having an athletic meet. With this as an opportunity, with the support of those who voluntarily participate in event planning, we formed a TF team and started in earnest!

Inside, we call our employees “stars.” So, we decided on the theme of “All-Star Game: U Play” with the hope that it will be a day where stars can enjoy and play together .

Reflecting the voices of the stars, I decided to plan the first in-house athletic meet, the All-Star Game.

Upstage, which operates a full remote work system, how were you able to prepare for the all-star game online?

  • Jieun:

I think it's because we can work together efficiently while sharing everything online enough. We had our first TF team meeting on June 9 and prepared a sports day for almost two months. We created a notion page to exchange ideas, and we tried to find a way to efficiently discuss role distribution and timeline setting. . Of course, during the preparation process, there were parts that often needed to be prepared offline, such as field trips, but I tried to share with the TF as much as possible through photos and videos.

In particular, I think I was able to prepare for a complete All-Star Game by demonstrating collective intelligence . “Conversation Bingo” was also produced to provide an opportunity to get to know each other with various stars on the day of the event. do.

In the All-Star Game, I also had time to get to know stars I had no contact with through “Conversation Bingo”.

“2022 All-Star: U Play”

The full-fledged All-Star Game was divided into five teams: “One Team, Sharing, Personal Growth, One Step More, Ethics” containing the Upstage Way. The “Upstage Entertainment” program, which includes fun activities such as chorus game, cry in silence, speak with your body, and a conical cone, and the “Challenge Star 99 Seconds” mission where you can see teamwork, were carried out well.

The All-Star Game has finally started!

What did you worry about and care about the most while making your first All-Star game?

  • EomThan:

First of all, the purpose of the TF was to make a day that was fun enough to say, “I had a good day ~” after the All-Star Game. As for the detailed program, it is the first day all the stars gather together, so I wanted to plan it so that everyone could participate . When forming groups, we mixed and placed members of various teams, and the program consisted of activities that everyone could participate in in a fun way. Prizes were also selected from items recommended by stars through Slack. Above all, the health of the stars comes first, so we worked hard in various ways to finish the event in a healthy way without the risk of injury, including the corona issue.

  • Jieun:

There were some people who were abroad or could not participate in the field due to personal circumstances. I thought about whether there was something we could do together, so we had time to say hello through a video message during the giveaway event. I think we were able to share the spirit of upstage that we want to be together as a team.

What was the most popular program or one that impressed you the most?

  • EomThan:

I think it was the four-cut photo booth that received more response than expected. I think everyone really enjoyed taking a lot of pictures and enjoying it.

A photo of the Dev team who worked hard to develop Document AI, which is scheduled to be released in the second half of the year, and the Contents & Education team who are creating better corporate AI education!

One cut that shows the ingenuity of the RecSys team, which develops the recommendation system!

  • Jieun:

I also remember the photo props, stickers, and posters made by the design team. In particular, the “Refined Pack” poster of the Dev team, who worked hard to develop the product ahead of the release of Document AI, was impressive!

  • Helen:

I remember that all the stars participated happily. All the stars were so active that it was hard to pick just one, so I thought it was upstage! It also reminds me of a giveaway event that was well-received by many people.

All the stars worked hard in the game.

The lucky winner of the 1st prize is Ducky from the AI Challenges team!

Looking back at the All-Star Game, please say a few words.

  • EomThan:

I think it meant a lot to me that it was the first time that all the employees of Upstage got together in one place . I was moved and grateful to all of you for your hard work. If I have one dream, I hope that one day all the employees can go to an overseas conference together and spread the AI technology of Upstage!

  • Jieun:

“They are also stars!” I felt that While preparing for the event, I was worried that everyone would be able to enjoy the activities well, but when I did it, the response was very good, and everyone actively participated, so I thought once again that they are really good colleagues.

  • Helen:

It was my first time planning an in-house event, so in the beginning, I was at a loss as to what kind of program to organize with about 100 stars. But in the end, it was fun because it was the process of making something unique to our company. I was proud because it seemed to be an event where stars were everywhere, rather than just a sports day. Personally, I think it was a time for further growth as I was able to learn about other people's work strengths and communication skills while preparing for the event. If there is another chance next time, I hope I can share this great experience with others!

AI THAT MAKES THE WORLD MORE BENEFICIAL,

We are looking for a colleague to build with Upstage.
